Residents of the national capital woke up to a cloudy sky on Tuesday morning as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted light rainfall and drizzle in several parts of the city over the next few hours. The change in weather has brought a slight relief from dry conditions, with many Delhiites enjoying the pleasant morning.
According to the IMD, light rain or drizzle is expected in multiple areas of Delhi, including Rohini, Badli, Pitampura, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Buddha Jayanti Park, Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Delhi Cantt, Palam, Vasant Vihar, and Vasant Kunj. Some parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) may also receive light showers. The cloud cover is likely to persist for most of the day, leading to a marginal drop in temperatures.
The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 13.2 degrees Celsius, which is 2.2 degrees above the season’s average, while the humidity level stood at a high 91 percent at 8:30 am. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 28 degrees Celsius. The IMD has also indicated that similar weather conditions may continue for the next 24 hours, with chances of intermittent drizzles in some areas.
Meanwhile, air quality in the capital remained in the “poor” category. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 211 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Experts suggest that while light rain can help in settling dust particles, it may not be sufficient to significantly improve air quality.

For reference, AQI levels range from “good” (0-50) and “satisfactory” (51-100) to “moderate” (101-200), “poor” (201-300), “very poor” (301-400), and “severe” (401-500). Authorities advise people with respiratory issues to take precautions while venturing outdoors.
Despite the poor air quality, the cloud cover and expected drizzle have brought temporary relief to many residents, offering a break from the otherwise dry and slightly warm February days.
