Delhi Weather: Delhi residents can expect a break from the scorching summer this week, with no signs of heatwave conditions, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). On Tuesday, the city registered a high of 36.1°C and a low of 28.2°C.
Light showers brought some respite, with 4.1 mm of rainfall recorded and humidity levels peaking at 91%, dipping to a minimum of 66%.
Wednesday’s forecast indicates a cloudy sky with a chance of light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph. The day’s temperature is predicted to range between 33°C and 35°C, while the night may remain between 26°C and 28°C.

IMD on Wednesday also informed that very light rainfall/drizzle is very likely to occur at isolated places of Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Kanjhawala, Karawal Nagar, Jafarpur), NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh) from 11:16 AM.
Neighbouring NCR cities such as Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad are expected to experience similar conditions, with patchy rain and overcast skies continuing through the week. This pattern is likely to persist until June 30, with no extreme heat anticipated during this period.
Looking ahead to Thursday, May 25, the IMD suggests overcast skies and the possibility of light showers in parts of Delhi and the NCR.
National forecast: Wet spell across many states
The weather department has also predicted rain across northern and central parts of the country on Wednesday. Isolated heavy to very heavy showers are expected in regions including coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Goa, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and western Uttar Pradesh.

States such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, and Sikkim may also witness rain, with many areas experiencing thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds even if rainfall remains minimal.
