The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning for Delhi over the next two days. A yellow alert has been issued for Wednesday, urging residents to remain cautious.
According to the latest bulletin from the IMD, the monsoon trough has moved past Delhi and is currently extending through several cities including Ludhiana, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Kanpur, Prayagraj, and Daltonganj, reaching the low-pressure zone over West Bengal. The changing monsoon dynamics are expected to bring scattered showers across the city.

On Wednesday, July 9, Delhi is expected to see a generally overcast sky, with rain activity picking up during the morning hours. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms with lightning, followed by light to moderate rainfall through the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 34°C, bringing some respite from the recent heat, though humidity levels could reach up to 80%, potentially making conditions sticky and uncomfortable for residents.
Outlook for the Coming Days
Weather models indicate that Delhi will continue to experience intermittent rainfall and monsoon-related activity until July 13. The sky is expected to remain cloudy, with daily spells of rain and thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will likely hover between 33°C and 35°C, while humidity is forecasted to stay high, in the 80–85% range for the rest of the week.
