India’s first elevated urban expressway, the Dwarka Expressway, is nearing completion and is expected to be finished within the next 3-4 months, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The expressway is being constructed as part of the Delhi decongestion plan and has an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore.
Gadkari stated that the project will be completed in four packages. One notable feature of the expressway is the inclusion of a fully-automated tolling system and an intelligent transportation system (ITS) throughout the entire stretch.
The Dwarka Expressway begins near Shiv Murti on NH-8 and ends near the Kherki Daula Toll plaza on the same highway. It spans a total length of 29 km, with 18.9 km falling in Haryana and the remaining 10.1 km within Delhi.
Once completed, the expressway will provide crucial connectivity between Dwarka and the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Additionally, it will offer direct access to the upcoming India International Convention Centre located in sector 25 of Dwarka. (With inputs from PTI)
