‘Extremely disrespectful’: DCW’s notice to Delhi Police over sale of obscene pictures of goddesses online

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken cognizance of a complaint regarding the sale of objectionable pictures depicting Hindu goddesses on the internet. The DCW issued a notice to the Delhi Police following the receipt of the complaint, as stated in an official announcement.

According to the DCW statement, the complainant has reported the online sale of pornographic images featuring Hindu goddesses and has been receiving corresponding emails. The complainant shared that the alleged emails contain sample pictures of goddesses depicted in an inappropriate manner.

The DCW has further requested a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) along with details of any accused individuals arrested in connection with the case. Additionally, the commission seeks information on the steps taken by the Delhi Police to remove the objectionable content from the internet.

Describing the act as highly disrespectful with the potential to offend religious sentiments and spark animosity among groups, Maliwal emphasized the gravity of the situation. She called for the immediate registration of an FIR, the arrest of the accused, and the prompt removal of the objectionable content from the internet.
