Delhi: Several key reforms have been made to simplify the GST system, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Thursday at the 57th GST Council meeting held at Bharat Mandapam.
The Chief Minister said the objective of these reforms is to develop a tax regime that is transparent, efficient, responsive and business-friendly.
“In line with the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’, several important reforms aimed at making the GST system simpler and more convenient for taxpayers were discussed in the GST Council meeting,” she said.
Automating the refund process will ensure business owners receive their money on time and will also enhance exporters’ competitiveness. At the same time, the automated cancellation of registration will relieve taxpayers closing their businesses of unnecessary delays, she added.

The Chief Minister said the GST registration process is also being simplified, which will make registration smoother for small sellers operating on e-commerce platforms.
She noted that steps such as removing the power of arrest under GST and rationalising prosecution provisions will create a favourable environment for business in the country.
“These reforms will make doing business easier and will render the GST system simpler and more taxpayer-friendly,” Gupta said in a statement.
Delhi’s economic sector will also contribute significantly towards achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047, she added.
