Delhi residents woke up to a hazy Saturday morning as a blanket of smog covered the city, with air quality remaining in the ‘poor’ category.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the city’s 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) was 273 at 9 am.
Certain areas experienced even worse air quality.
Mundka and Bawana recorded AQI levels of 366, Wazirpur 355, Jahangirpuri 347, and Anand Vihar 333, all falling into the ‘very poor’ category, the data revealed.
The AQI scale categorizes readings from zero to 50 as ‘good’, 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 as ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 as ‘poor’, 301 to 400 as ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 as ‘severe’.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a minimum temperature of 20.2 degrees Celsius in Delhi, 1.8 degrees above normal.

Humidity was recorded at 51 per cent at 8:30 am.
The IMD also forecasted clear skies for the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 36 degrees Celsius.
