The national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 26.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday, marginally above the seasonal average by 0.4 degrees, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather office has predicted a partly cloudy sky with chances of thunder and lightning through the day. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 41 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels were relatively high in the morning, with the IMD reporting 62 per cent relative humidity at 8:30 AM.
Light rainfall measuring around 1 mm was recorded between 8 AM Saturday and 8 AM Sunday, with showers lashing parts of Central Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Maharani Bagh, and Mayur Vihar.
The city’s air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category on Sunday morning. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 138 at 9 AM.
As per CPCB guidelines, an AQI reading between 101 and 200 falls under the ‘moderate’ category, while levels from 0 to 50 are considered ‘good’, and 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’.
On Saturday, several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), including Noida, experienced a dust storm followed by brief rainfall and thunderstorms. The weather activity also led to incidents of tree uprooting in some areas.
The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 40.8 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal by 0.4 degrees, while the minimum stood at 24.3 degrees Celsius, 2.2 degrees below the season’s average.
