Independence Day: 18 Delhi police personnel awarded with President’s police medal

Eighteen Delhi Police personnel have been honored with the President’s police medals on Independence Day, according to officials on Monday.

Among them, three individuals were granted the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while the remaining 15 received the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Police sources indicate that the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service was bestowed upon Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sharat Kumar Sinha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mahesh Batra, and ACP Manju Lata.

Joint CP Sindhu Pillai, along with Additional CP Mangesh Kashyap and ACPs Virender Kumar, Kamlesh Dayal, Suman Bala, and Kamlesh Kumari, inspectors Bishan Dass and Kawaljeet Singh, sub-inspectors Rakesh Kumar, Mukesh Devi, H Thangkholal, and assistant sub-inspectors Manjeet Kumar, Babita, Radhey Shyam Meena, and Rakesh Kumar were recipients of the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

In the case of ACP Sharat Kumar Sinha, he took on the added responsibility of DCP/Election Cell for over eight years. The Election Commission of India recognized his efforts with a special award for security management linked to the Best Electoral Awards of 2015, praising his dedication, professionalism, and excellent work during the peaceful completion of the Assembly elections in 2015.

DCP Mahesh Batra’s contributions included the development of crucial intranet-based applications and mobile apps for tracking stolen vehicles and assisting senior citizens.

ACP Manju Lata’s achievements span participation in multiple editions of the All India Police Games, securing consecutive gold medals, and a total of 73 medals in various sports events/activities.

During Joint CP Sindhu Pillai’s tenure in the vigilance branch of Delhi Police, she initiated the Vigilance WhatsApp helpline number. She also actively participated in a committee led by the Central Vigilance Commissioner, focusing on implementing suggestions from the public during Vigilance Awareness Week 2020, aiming to enhance vigilance activities.

Highlighting their efficiency, police noted Suman Bala’s successful efforts in reconciling matrimonial disputes through counseling in crime against women (CAW) cells. Additionally, Kamlesh Kumari played a significant role in anti-terrorist operations and the crackdown on espionage rings and drug traffickers.
