A teenage boy was apprehended for allegedly sending an email to the Delhi Police headquarters, claiming a bomb was planted in outer Delhi’s Nangloi area, police said on Friday.

Following a thorough search of the area, the sender, identified as a teenage boy, was apprehended. He received counseling from the police before being released to his parents.

Located about 18 kilometers away from Nangloi, the Delhi Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road in central Delhi was the recipient of the email.

In a statement, the PHQ said, “the sender is a juvenile, and therefore, in compliance with the JJ Act, his identity cannot be disclosed.”

“The email was deemed a prank. After counseling, the juvenile was returned to his parents’ custody,” it concluded. (With inputs from PTI)
