Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal at Tihar jail on Tuesday, where Kejriwal encouraged him to actively support INDIA bloc candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Mann assured reporters that Kejriwal’s health is stable, as he continues to receive insulin and undergo regular check-ups.
Kejriwal, despite being in custody, urged the public not to be concerned about his well-being and emphasized the importance of exercising their voting rights during the elections. This marked Mann’s second visit to Kejriwal in Tihar jail within a span of two weeks.
Mann described the meetings as being conducted through an iron mesh, reflecting what he called the extreme level of animosity towards Kejriwal. He conveyed Kejriwal’s message to the public, urging them to vote and preserve democracy.
Sharing his recent campaign experiences, Mann mentioned his visits to Gujarat and Assam, where he received overwhelming support for the AAP candidates. Kejriwal encouraged Mann to extend his campaign efforts to Delhi and other states where INDIA bloc candidates are contesting.
Emphasising the significance of the elections in safeguarding democracy and the Constitution, Mann reiterated the importance of active participation.
During their conversation, Kejriwal inquired about Mann’s family, particularly his newborn daughter, and discussed various issues including agricultural produce and the impact of the Model Code of Conduct on facilities in Punjab.
Mann shared positive developments in Punjab, such as the remarkable achievement of 158 government school students clearing the JEE (Mains) for the first time, which Kejriwal celebrated as a milestone in the education sector.
Previously, Kejriwal’s wife Sunita and Delhi Minister Atishi also visited him in Tihar jail. Kejriwal has been in judicial custody since April 1 in connection with a money-laundering case related to the excise policy.
