Speaking about the cleaning of the Yamuna, the LG said it was progressing at full speed

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena inaugurated the Amrut Biodiversity Park on Friday, emphasising his commitment to making the city greener and cleaner.

Reflecting on the park’s transformation, Saxena noted that the area was once in a deplorable state, covered in dirt and neglect. “In just a year and a half, we have turned this place into a beautiful green space for Delhiites,” he said.

He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to expand green spaces and provide a refreshing environment for residents. Plans are also in place to set up a café within the park for visitors to relax.

Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a cleaner and greener Delhi, Saxena said multiple initiatives are underway to enhance the city’s environmental health.

“To promote water conservation and attract more bird species, we have created depressions within the park to store rain and floodwater. Additionally, nearly 20,000 plants have been planted, ensuring the park’s beauty continues to flourish in the coming years,” he added.

On the issue of Yamuna’s cleanliness, the L-G assured that efforts were progressing rapidly. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other ministers are closely monitoring the work to ensure its completion in a mission-mode approach.
