One injured, two vehicles damaged after signage hoarding collapses in Delhi’s Yamuna Vihar

A case under charges related to rash driving and endangering life or personal safety of others was registered at Gokulpuri Police Station

A 42-year-old man suffered injuries when a damaged signage hoarding collapsed on him in northeast Delhi’s Gokulpuri market in the early hours of Saturday, police said.

Identified as Ajab Singh, also known as Ajay, the victim works as an auto-rickshaw driver. Singh was seated on a bench when, at around 3:30 am, a truck collided with the pole supporting the hoarding, causing the metal board to fall and injure him, according to authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Joy Tirkey said that Singh was promptly taken to GTB Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

The incident also resulted in damage to Singh’s auto-rickshaw and a Mahindra pickup van.

Tirkey mentioned, “Cranes were deployed to remove the damaged hoarding.”

A case has been registered at Gokulpuri Police Station under charges related to reckless driving and endangering the life or safety of others.

The police have assembled a dedicated team to apprehend the truck driver involved in the incident. (With inputs from PTI)
