The police recently conducted major drug raids in two locations in south Delhi, seizing approximately 900 kg of Mephedrone, commonly known as “Meow Meow.” The value of the seized drugs is estimated to be over Rs 2,000 crore.

The seizures, which were made on Tuesday in Kotla Mubarakpur and Hauz Khas, resulted from joint efforts between the Pune and Delhi police forces. The Delhi bust was carried out based on information provided by the Pune Police, which is investigating a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Mephedrone is a synthetic stimulant known for its association with the rave party culture due to its euphoric effects. It is widely referred to as “Meow Meow” on the streets.

In total, over the past two days, raids were conducted in Pune and Delhi, leading to the seizure of 1,100 kg of Mephedrone valued at Rs 2,500 crore in the international market.

According to a senior police officer, a team from the Pune Police’s Crime Branch requested a joint raid to investigate a case under the NDPS Act in Pune, which had already led to the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of Mephedrone.

Subsequent interrogation of the arrested individuals led to a raid in Kotla Mubarakpur, resulting in the seizure of around 300 kg of Mephedrone and the arrest of two individuals. Further investigation led to the discovery of an additional 600 kg of Mephedrone in a rented shop in Masjid Moth, Hauz Khas, which had been recently rented.
