Rain, gusty winds likely in Delhi today: IMD

The IMD has forecasted light to moderate rain, strong surface winds, and thunderstorms in Delhi and surrounding areas over the next few days

Delhi woke up to pleasant weather on Tuesday, with the minimum temperature settling at 22.7 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms later in the day.

Humidity levels were recorded at 68 per cent at 8:30 AM. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT office.

The city’s air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 123 at 9 AM, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI between 101 and 200 falls under the ‘moderate’ range.

On Monday, the capital recorded a maximum temperature of 32.3 degrees Celsius—seven degrees below the seasonal average—while the minimum stood at 23.2 degrees Celsius, which is 1.5 degrees below normal. Humidity ranged between 63 and 57 per cent.

Last Friday, Delhi witnessed one of the wettest May days in recent history. The Safdarjung observatory logged 77 mm of rainfall within just six hours—from 2:30 am to 8:30 AM. This marked the second-highest 24-hour rainfall for May in the city since 1901, according to the IMD.
