The forecast anticipated mostly cloudy skies with moderate rainfall throughout Sunday

Delhi residents awoke to a damp Sunday morning as showers drenched various parts of the city, while the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperature dropped to 23.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the normal range.

The Safdarjung Observatory registered a rainfall of 48.3 mm within a 24-hour period until 8:30 am.

At 8:30 am, the weather office recorded a relative humidity of 100 percent.

The forecast anticipated mostly cloudy skies with moderate rainfall throughout Sunday, and the maximum temperature was expected to reach around 32 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, Delhi experienced a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius and a low of 30.4 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s Safdarjung Observatory, the primary weather station in the city, has not experienced a heatwave this summer season, and it is anticipated that there will be no heatwave until the end of June. This is an unusual occurrence since 2011 when the observatory recorded at least one heatwave during summers, as per data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Kuldeep Srivastava, the head of the IMD’s regional forecasting centre, stated, “The Safdarjung Observatory has not recorded any heatwave this summer season so far. Also, there will be no heatwave in the next seven days. Since 2011, this is the first summer without a heatwave in Delhi.”
