The Martha Farrell Foundation is hosting a two-day consultation to be held on February 22 and 23 at the Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The event aims to bring together key stakeholders including women domestic workers, civil society organisations, and Local Committee members from 11 districts of Delhi.
The primary objective of this consultation is to address the challenges encountered by women informal workers in accessing and filing complaints with the Local Committees established under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. The consultation will also focus on the obstacles faced by Local Committee members in ensuring the effective functioning of these committees, as mandated by the SHW Act, 2013.
Key highlights of the consultation include:
– Discussion on challenges faced by women informal workers in accessing Local Committees.
– Deliberation on hurdles encountered by Local Committee members in fulfilling their responsibilities under the SHW Act, 2013.
– Drafting of a charter of demands to be presented to the District officers, Delhi Commission for Women, and the Department of Women and Child Development.
The consultation will aim to enhance the capacity of Local Committee members regarding the grievance-redressal mechanism provided by the SHW Act, 2013. Participants will include representatives from various civil society organizations, local committee members, members of the media fraternity, and advocates for gender justice.
