Vidushi Sunanda Sharma, a vocalist of the Banaras Gharana, will perform at a musical evening titled ‘Boondan Phuhaar’ on Thursday, August 29, at 7:00 PM. The event will take place at the Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre.
Organised by the Girija Darshan Trust, the concert will feature Indian classical music centred around the monsoon season.
Sunanda Sharma will be joined by Pandit Vinay Mishra on harmonium, Pandit Mithilesh Kumar Jha on tabla, and Ghulam Ali on sarangi. Together, they will present music that reflects the mood of the rainy season.
Speaking about the concert, Sunanda Sharma said, “Music is a beautiful path of life, and celebrating nature with music is a blissful opportunity”. She added, “Through ‘Boondan Phuhaar,’ we aim to capture the essence of the monsoon, allowing the music to reflect the rhythm and tranquillity that comes with the rain”.
Sharma, who has a deep-rooted training in the Guru-Shishya Parampara, said, “My training in the Banaras Gharana has taught me the importance of carrying forward our musical heritage. This concert is an expression of that tradition, presented in the context of the monsoon”.
The Girija Darshan Trust, founded by Sunanda Sharma, is dedicated to preserving and promoting Indian classical music. The trust, named after her Gurus, Girija Devi and Pandit Sudarshan Sharma.

The trust supports young talents and provides platforms for established artists to perform.
