The Urvashi Dance Music Art and Cultural Society, in collaboration with Graphis Ads and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will present the dance drama Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram on April 21, at Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House.
The production is directed by Kathak artist Rekha Mehra and choreographed by Guru Ajay Bhatt and Aamrapali Bhandari. It draws on elements of classical and contemporary dance to depict episodes from the Ramayana, focusing on the character of Lord Ram and the values traditionally associated with him.
The performance explores themes of duty, morality, and leadership. The set design and choreography aim to create a visual representation of the Ramayana narrative. The production also features participation from underprivileged children trained by the Urvashi Dance Music Art & Cultural Society.
Rekha Mehra stated that the production seeks to encourage reflection on the relevance of Ram’s values in present-day society. “Our objective is to revisit the ideals of Shri Ram at a time when they are being reconsidered,” she said. “To honour him is to examine how principles such as righteousness, compassion, and respect can be practised today.”

The event is open to the public and aims to engage a wide audience through a combination of performance and thematic interpretation.
