Sameksha Gallery will present Emergent Forms, a group exhibition featuring over 40 artworks by 20 young artists who have completed a seven-month mentoring programme at the gallery, at Sanatan: IILM Centre for Arts & Ideas, New Delhi, from September 19 to October 16. The exhibition brings together emerging artistic practices shaped through sustained mentorship, experimentation and dialogue.
The participating artists were selected through a nationwide open call across media. The programme began with an in-person portfolio review and mentoring session during the India Art Fair in February 2026, led by artists Kavita Nayar, Arunkumar HG, Shantamani Muddaiah, Chetnaa and Yamini Telkar. It continued through structured sessions focused on studio practice and the practical aspects of navigating the art world, including presentations, concept notes, pricing and art events such as fairs and biennials.
Emergent Forms marks the first public presentation of this journey. The exhibition brings together works exploring material, narrative and scale, reflecting the artists’ processes of experimentation, revision and discovery. Rather than presenting finished artistic statements, the show focuses on practices that remain open and evolving, inviting viewers to engage with the questions and possibilities emerging through the artists’ work.
For Yamini Telkar, Curator at Sameksha, the exhibition is about allowing young artistic practices to develop through sustained attention and exchange. The show also reflects the larger vision of Sanatan: IILM Centre for Arts & Ideas, where art and education are conceived as interconnected forms of learning, creativity and engagement. The centre hosts exhibitions, performances, masterclasses and workshops that encourage artistic exchange across disciplines and generations.
Sameksha is an art and programme space within Sanatan: IILM Centre for Arts & Ideas. Since its first exhibition in August 2025, the space has presented eight exhibitions featuring diverse artists and art forms, while supporting established and emerging practitioners through exhibitions, residencies and mentoring initiatives.
