Gallery Silver Scapes is hosting Harmony, an art exhibition featuring works by Anita Roy Chowdhury alongside modern masters such as Bimal Das Gupta, Ram Gopal Vijayvargiya, Ghulam Rasool Santosh, Francis Newton Souza, Jatin Das, and Krishen Khanna. The exhibition also includes contemporary artists like Thota Vaikuntam, Vinod Sharma, Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharjee, Ranbir Kaleka, Chandra Bhattacharjee, and Manu Parekh. It brings together works that connect past artistic legacies with contemporary voices.
The exhibition will run from March 16 to 20, at Bikaner House, LTC Hall, New Delhi, with a focus on Anita Roy Chowdhury’s work.
Anita Roy Chowdhury’s paintings blend traditional Indian aesthetics with modernist techniques. Her use of colour and form reflects a deep engagement with both nature and philosophy. Over time, her work has incorporated spiritual motifs and elements of Indian mythology, such as the lotus flower and the Om mantra.
Vikram Mayor, Art Director of Gallery Silver Scapes, described Chowdhury’s impact on Indian art, saying, “Anita Roy Chowdhury was a visionary, paving the way for future generations as one of India’s first women abstractionists. Her art was not only a reflection of her inner world but also a nuanced commentary on the social fabric of her time. With subtlety and finesse, she wove together threads of introspection and social critique, creating a body of work that was both deeply personal and profoundly impactful”.
