In a four-day festival starting on December 6, films made on the Ibero-American continent will be screened in Delhi. The Instituto Cervantes collaborated with the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival, with the help of the Huelva City Council, to bring the festival together.
The festival is a window to stories that come from overseas, but they elaborate discourses and questions that are so universal that, as viewers, we cannot stop thinking about them from our own culture and our own identity.
The event, which will see the screening of four films, is an endeavour to celebrate the diversity and forcefulness of cinema made on the Ibero-American continent. The production in Spanish in this extensive region has a resounding reach in international festivals and fills experimental cinemas around the world.
This sample, in addition, stops at Ibero-American film less known by the general public, such as the Peruvian or the Dominican, and also integrates works from Argentina and Colombia, whose national cinemas have had an enormous preponderance since the end of the last century.
The four films that make up this series put their finger on the sore spot to force us to see how difficult it is to live and fulfill the dreams and ideals that people forge for themselves, even if these are only for being able to tackle the every day life.
“The Ibero-American cinema is constantly pushing the envelope by making highly thought-provoking, humanistic films about telling subjects often tackled using refreshing narrative styles. The upcoming festival at the India Habitat Centre that I am presenting brings some of the most absorbing stories from the Ibero-American region,” said the organizers.
