Kathak exponent Sanjeet Gangani will headline the second day of the Nritya Sangeet Mahotsav 2025 with a special solo recital and group performance alongside his students. The three-day festival of Indian classical music and dance will take place from May 5 to 7 at Triveni Kala Sangam Auditorium, commencing daily at 6 PM.
Organised by the GKG Foundation in collaboration with Pracheen Kala Kendra, this year’s Mahotsav is dedicated to the memory of Guruma Kamala Devi Gangani, a revered figure in the world of Kathak. The festival will feature a curated line-up of renowned artists from across the country, representing a wide spectrum of classical music and dance traditions.
A senior artist of the Jaipur Gharana and son-disciple of Pandit Rajendra Gangani, Sanjeet Gangani will offer a performance that serves as both homage and personal reflection. His recital will feature compositions and choreographies deeply rooted in the stylistic lineage passed down by his Guruma.
“This performance is not just about memory—it’s about continuing the voice and vision of Guruma through movement and rhythm,” Gangani said. “My Guruma set me on this path, encouraging me to embrace Kathak and its rhythm. Soon, the stage became my home—a place where I listened, observed, and discovered myself. When I perform, it will be with deep gratitude, honouring her memory and the journey she set in motion.”
Each evening of the Mahotsav is thematically structured to highlight different dimensions of Indian classical artistry, with Gangani’s performance poised to serve as the festival’s artistic centrepiece.

The GKG Foundation, a cultural trust committed to the preservation and promotion of Indian classical arts, has long worked to support performers and educate new audiences. Through its collaboration with Pracheen Kala Kendra, the Mahotsav will also feature lecture-demonstrations and interactive sessions designed to deepen public engagement with the classical arts.
