The Urvashi Dance Music Art and Cultural Society, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is set to present the Nritya Shikhar Mahotsav, a prestigious festival celebrating the beauty and diversity of Indian classical dance. The event will take place on April 2 at Triveni Kala Sangam Auditorium from 6:00 PM onwards.
The festival will showcase a mesmerising array of performances by renowned artists, featuring classical dance forms such as Kathak, Odissi, and Chhau. Notable performers include Shobha Bisht, whose Odissi recital will capture the spiritual essence of the form, and Vishavdeep, who will present a Kathak performance from the Lucknow Gharana, known for its intricate footwork and expressive storytelling. Ameera Patankar’s Kathak recital will highlight the rhythm and dynamism of the dance, while Tapasya Foundation will bring the martial traditions of Chhau to the stage.
Adding to the grandeur of the event, Prabhat Kumar, President of Sanskar Bharti Delhi State, will attend as the Chief Guest. The festival will also honour distinguished contributors to Indian art and culture, with Pt. Vijay Shanker Mishra receiving the Urvashi Kala Shikhar Samman, Ashok Jamnani being awarded the Urvashi Kala Gaurav Samman, and Shri Ashok Jain honoured with the Urvashi Kala Utthan Samman.
Speaking about the event, Dr Rekha Mehra, Kathak exponent and President of the Urvashi Dance Music Art and Cultural Society, said, “We are honoured to present Nritya Shikhar Mahotsav, a festival that celebrates the depth of Indian classical dance. It is a platform where tradition and artistry come together, inspiring audiences with the rich heritage of these timeless forms.”
