NSD joins Delhi govt to organise theatre 10-day festival for children

The Delhi government will be organizing a festival from June 15, where children will have the opportunity to learn acting and other theater skills from professionals at the renowned National School of Drama (NSD).

The primary objective of this 10-day theater festival is to introduce the younger generation to the world of acting during their summer vacation.

In collaboration with the National School of Drama (NSD), the Delhi Tourism Department will host the festival from June 15 to 25. The venue for the event will be Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti near Rajghat.

The workshop is open to children between the ages of 8 and 16, residing in Delhi or elsewhere, and there is no cost for enrollment.

The festival aims to not only teach children new skills but also promote tourism in the national capital. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about theater from professionals associated with NSD, stated an official.

The registration for the theater workshop has already commenced, with 150 students having already applied. A total of 250 students will be selected for the workshop, with the final selection process taking place on June 12 and the list of chosen candidates being released on June 13, as per a tourism department official.

As part of the festival, six children’s plays will be staged from June 19 to 24.

“The performance of these six children’s plays will be organized, and admission will be free for all children, regardless of their location. This initiative will greatly contribute to the promotion of tourism,” added the official.
