The Asavari Centre for Kathak, in collaboration with the Indian classical dance community, is set to present “Sharanyam”, a special Kathak performance on August 22, at 7:00 PM at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. This event is a tribute to Padma Shri Shovana Narayan as she embarks on her 75th year, celebrating her profound contributions to the world of Kathak.
The evening will feature performances by Narayan’s disciples, who have travelled from around the globe to pay homage to their mentor. The repertoire will showcase a variety of her iconic compositions, reflecting the rich heritage and intricate artistry of Kathak. From intricate footwork to expressive storytelling, each performance will be a testament to the enduring legacy of Guru Shovana Narayan.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Shovana Narayan said, “’Sharanyam’ is not just a celebration of my journey in Kathak but also a reflection of the deep bonds formed through the Guru-Shishya Parampara.
