Artist Santanu Dey will open his second solo exhibition, Silent Spring, at Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, on Wednesday. Presented by Art Incept and mentored by exhibition designer Prima Kurien, the show will be inaugurated at 5 PM on September 17.
The exhibition explores themes of ecological loss, environmental degradation and urbanisation through drawings, paintings and sculptural works. Among the highlights are Yamuna (2025), a work depicting environmental devastation, and Earth Goddess (2025), a wood-and-iron sculpture reflecting the absence of nurturing forces in a changing landscape.
Dey, who was born in Kolkata in 1981, studied sculpture at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and completed his Masters at MSU Baroda. His practice focuses on environmental concerns and often employs discarded materials such as brick dust, e-waste, and weathered canvases.
The artist has previously exhibited at the India Art Fair, the German Embassy’s Art in Residence project, and has created public art installations for institutions including Plaksha University, Mohali. His debut solo, Unseen City, was shown in 2023 at the same gallery.

Art Incept founder and director Gayatri Singh said the exhibition represents a milestone for the gallery. “Silent Spring is our very first second solo with any of our artists. Santanu’s practice speaks urgently to the fragility of our natural world,” she said.
The exhibition will remain open to the public at Shridharani Gallery from September 17 to 23.
