The Nayan Naveli Gallery is set to present its much-anticipated exhibition, “Sketch to Story,” celebrating the transformative journey of art from raw sketches to vivid narratives. The event will take place at the iconic Shridharani Gallery at Triveni Kala Sangam, from December 22 to December 31. Visitors can explore the exhibition daily between 11 AM and 7 PM, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 4:30 PM on December 22.
Curated by Amrita Kochhar, founder of Nayan Naveli Gallery, “Sketch to Story” delves into the foundational role of drawing in the creative process. Kochhar described the exhibition as a tribute to the essence of art, where every masterpiece begins with a spark of an idea that takes form through lines, textures, and shapes. “Drawings are the artist’s first dialogue with their imagination—raw yet powerful, fragile yet enduring. They hold a beauty that lies in their vulnerability, yet they are often overlooked as mere preliminary works,” she said.

The exhibition will feature a collection of exceptional works by renowned masters such as Krishen Khanna, Anjolie Ela Menon, Thota Vaikuntam, Sakti Burman, Maite Delteil, and Laxma Goud. Alongside these legendary figures, “Sketch to Story” will also showcase the innovative works of contemporary artists like Neeraj Bakshi, Maya Burman, and Vimmi Indra, whose drawings reflect both modern sensibilities and timeless storytelling.
Through this carefully curated display, “Sketch to Story” aims to challenge conventional perceptions of drawings, presenting them as significant pieces of art in their own right. Each sketch on display carries the potential to transcend its initial simplicity, offering a window into the artist’s thought process and creative evolution.
For Kochhar, the exhibition is more than just a celebration of drawing—it is an invitation to art enthusiasts and collectors to engage with art in its most authentic and unfiltered form. “This exhibition is a testament to the enduring power of drawing as an art form, where a single line can hold infinite possibilities,” she explained.
