Art Alive Gallery is set to present Subliminal, a solo exhibition of recent works by artist S HarshaVardhana. The show will open on April 7 and will be on view until May 20, offering audiences an insight into the artist’s evolving exploration of colour, form, and abstraction.
HarshaVardhana’s work delves into the idea of quietude, creating an immersive experience where colours and geometric forms—especially triangles—play a central role. His paintings emerge from an instinctive and spontaneous impulse, reflecting the interplay between structure and free-flowing expression.
“The interplay of colours and forms in S HarshaVardhana’s recent body of work reflects a reassertion of colour’s primacy, unbound by the constraints of time,” said poet and critic Ashok Vajpeyi.
The exhibition will open with a discussion featuring Vajpeyi, art historian Yashodhara Dalmia, and the artist himself. The conversation will explore the themes in HarshaVardhana’s work and his approach to abstraction.
“To me, the act of painting is similar to the experience of embracing love—it depends entirely on the viewer’s perception and observation,” said HarshaVardhana.

Through Subliminal, the artist examines the emotional and psychological impact of colour, presenting compositions that can be interpreted in multiple ways—whether as a musical rhythm, a mathematical sequence, or an exploration of the natural world.
