‘Tara Padmanabhan’s Arangetram’: A Bharatanatyam showcase

Tara Padmanabhan will mark a milestone in her Bharatanatyam journey with an arangetram at Delhi Tamil Sangam Auditorium on September 19

Natya Vriksha, founded by Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Geeta Chandran, will present the Bharatanatyam Arangetram of Tara Padmanabhan at the Delhi Tamil Sangam Auditorium, RK Puram, New Delhi, on September 19. The performance marks a significant milestone in the dancer’s journey, following years of rigorous training and preparation for an independent stage performance.

Tara Padmanabhan is the daughter of G Ponnammal and the late Arvind Padmanabhan, and granddaughter of Shantha Padmanabhan. The evening will be attended by Prof Dr Bijayalaxmi Nanda, Principal and Professor of Political Science at Miranda House, University of Delhi, as the chief guest, with Dr Nila Mohanan, IAS, Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, as the guest of honour.

An arangetram traditionally marks a Bharatanatyam dancer’s readiness to perform independently before an audience after completing years of formal training. The evening will showcase Tara’s training and progression in the classical dance form under the guidance of her gurus.
