Gallery Dotwalk has launched its exhibition, The Will to Live, curated by Sibdas Sengupta, which began on September 28 and will run until October 28. This solo exhibition features an extensive body of work by artist Priyaranjan Purkait and explores the aesthetic side of the Sunderbans through his artistic vision.
The exhibition marks Purkait’s first solo showing in Delhi NCR and includes over 30 artworks, such as paintings and drawings developed between 2016 and 2024.
It will also release a publication titled The Will to Live, edited by Premjish Achari.
During the show, visitors can participate in a curatorial walkthrough with the artist, who connects personal stories and ancestral practices with the socio-economic conditions of his native Sunderbans.

Priyaranjan Purkait, an artist, said, “My childhood experiences, particularly weaving fishing nets with my father, heavily influence my artistic practice”.
Sibdas Sengupta, the curator, emphasises the exhibition’s importance, “The Will to Live attempts to unfold similar concerns and understand the socio-economic conditions and cultural landscape through Priyaranjan’s artistic practice”.
