All you need to know: Delhi police traffic advisory for Republic Day

With the Delhi Police allowing the protesting farmers tractor rally on Republic Day, predictably the security arrangements are high and traffic cautions abundant in the Capital city

Delhi Police Commissioner S. N. Shrivastava has said that “all officers and men as well as CAPF and other force deployed for republic day parade security arrangements should be made aware and be prepared that they will be required for law-and-order arrangements immediately after the republic day celebrations are over”, in connection with the “Kisan/tractor rally”.

Reports suggest there will be a heavy deployment of the Delhi police, in uniform and plain clothes, along with several companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). On top of that there are tens of thousands of traffic police personnel deployed for smooth flow of traffic and for facilitation of spectators and visitors at the India Gate for the parade.

But the tractor parade which will start after the republic day parade, has three entry points, one from Ghazipur, second from Singhu and third from Tikri border of Delhi covering around 170 kilometres of distance – and one which will keep the security personnel on their toes.

People thinking of leaving their homes after the celebrations are over, should know about the various points that the rallies will be crossing. For farmers camping at the Ghazipur border point, their tractor parade will cover areas like Apsra border-Ghaziabad-Duhai and return to Ghazipur.

Then those that start from the Singhu border will pass-through Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Kanjhawala, Bawana, Auchandi Border, Kundli Manesar Palwal expressway and will return to Singhu border. Lastly, the farmers who start with their tractors from Tikri border, will pass via Nangloi, Najafgarh, Jharoda, Kundli Manesar Palwal expressway, and then head back to Tikri border.

The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha assured that they will go back to their respective places from where the rally started, police said.

As of now, there are approximately 12,000 to 13,000 tractors at various Delhi border points — around 7,000 to 8,000 at Tikri, around 5,000 at Singhu and around 1,000 at Ghazipur border — police said, adding that their number is expected to go further up.The latest report and claims suggest there are over a lakh tractors now waiting to be let in.

The Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (DTIDC) has said that due to the tractor rally of farmers, interstate buses and local buses will not be operational from Anand Vihar ISBT from 6 am to 6 pm on 26th January. Interstate buses plying from here will run from Sarai Kale Khan.

The Haryana Police has said there will be traffic disruptions on National Highway between Karnal to Delhi & Rohtak to Delhi from January 25 to January 27. Traffic on KMP-KGP Expressway will also be impacted & interchanges at Kundli, Assaudha & Badli will not be accessible to traffic movement on these dates.

From the advisory by the Traffic Police, the roads blocks apply not just for the 26th, with some parts of the capital becoming out of bounds from the evening of the 25th. Below we have the traffic advisory issued by Manish Kumar Agrawal, Jt Commissioner Traffic (HQ).
