Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail has officially become the first film that will get subsidy from the state government under its ‘Delhi Film Policy-2022’ for shooting in the national capital.
“They have completed all the formalities and the subsidy amount will be reimbursed to the makers once the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is over,” said an official of Delhi Tourism, the nodal agency looking after the Film Policy.
“We are getting more requests for subsidies for other films,” the official said.
The film 12th Fail features actors Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr in lead roles.
It was shot in Mukherjee Nagar and Rajendra Nagar.
The tourism officials said that a subsidy of up to Rs 3 crore will be provided under the policy depending on the number of days of shooting, location and branding of Delhi, and hiring of local actors among other factors.
“It involves factors like screen time of Delhi locations, number of shoot days, Delhi-based skilled crew and support resources, line production cost borne in Delhi,” they said.
Subsidies to Indian films including all regional films and foreign films will be based on the points scored in the scoring system. The maximum points are 40/44 (depending on Indian/foreign film production) and the minimum eligible points are 20.
The films that have been shot after the launch of the Delhi Film Policy-2022 are eligible for subsidy.
In November 2022, Rohit Shetty shot for the web series Indian Police Force in Delhi but as per the officials, he refused the offer of subsidy.
