The number of new coronavirus cases in India has reached 5,335; the number of active cases has risen to 25,587, according to figures updated on Thursday by the Union health ministry.
On September 23 last year, 5,383 cases were reported in a single day.

According to the statement, the weekly positivity rate is 2.89 percent and the daily positivity rate is 3.32 percent.
There are 4.47 crore (4,47,39,054) Covid cases overall according to the ministry.
As per the health ministry website, the national Covid recovery rate has been recorded at 98.75%, and the active cases currently make up 0.06 percent of all infections.
The total number of patients who have recovered from the illness has risen to 4,41,82,538; the case fatality rate is 1.19 percent.
The national capital’s positivity rate breached the 25 per cent mark on Wednesday as the city recorded 509 fresh cases in a single day.
The positivity rate stood at 26.54 per cent, highest in nearly 15 months, while no new fatalities were logged.
It was in January last year that the positivity rate has touched the 30 per cent mark.
