The Indian Army on Friday said it effectively repelled a series of drone and munitions attacks launched by Pakistan’s armed forces along the western border on the night of May 8–9.
According to a statement posted early Friday on X (formerly Twitter), Pakistani forces also carried out numerous ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. A video clip accompanying the post warned that all hostile actions would be met with force.
“Operation Sindoor – Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of May 8 and 9. Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Indian Army said in the post.
The Army confirmed that the drone threats were “effectively repulsed” and a “befitting reply” was given in response to the ceasefire violations.
“The Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force,” the statement added.
The attacks come just days after the Indian armed forces launched precision missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor, in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.
Late Thursday night, the Ministry of Defence also confirmed that military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were targeted by drones and missiles of Pakistani origin.
“These threats were swiftly neutralised using both kinetic and non-kinetic measures, as per established standard operating procedures (SOPs). No casualties or material damage were reported,” the ministry said, emphasizing India’s preparedness to defend its people and territory.
