A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in northeast Delhi’s Gokalpuri area allegedly for talking to a girl who he had befriended on Instagram , police said on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Mahir, also known as Imran, was discovered on Wednesday lying on a roadside in Bhagirathi Vihar, bearing multiple stab wounds. Hailing from Ghaziabad, Mahir was employed at a flex board shop in Pahar Ganj, central Delhi.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey confirmed the arrest of three individuals—Arman Khan, 18, Faisal Khan, 21, and Sameer, also known as Baloo, 19—from Goklapuri, in connection to the murder.
According to Tirkey, “Mahir and Armaan had established contact with a girl through Instagram. Recently, when Mahir discovered the girl engaged in a video call with Arman, he confronted Armaan, resulting in an altercation”.
Subsequently, Arman seized the girl’s phone and warned her against communicating with Mahir, stated another officer.
On the day of the fatal incident, Arman lured Mahir by claiming to return the girl’s phone. Upon arrival, Arman, along with Faisal and Sameer, attacked and fatally stabbed Mahir, the officer disclosed.
The authorities revealed that the three suspects are employed as part-time laborers and are residents of Gokalpuri. (With inputs from PTI)
