The MCD’s Education Department in the Rohini zone has issued a directive to its teachers and staff, imposing a prohibition on participating in strikes, demonstrations, or expressing criticism on social media against the department, according to an official notification.
The notification emphasises that strict actions will be taken against any staff engaging in such activities.
The notice dated January 22 states, “If any employee is found involved in any form of strike, mass casual leave, boycott of work, or negatively criticising the department on social media and in the press, strict action may be initiated against the defaulter.”
It further mentions that such activities are considered a violation of the CCS Conduct Rules, 1964.
Despite attempts to reach Rishi Pal Rana, Deputy Director of Education in Rohini Zone, MCD, there has been no response to calls and texts.
Addressed to the heads of schools, the notice instructs department employees to disassociate themselves from “unrecognised associations”, citing that these associations are tarnishing the department’s image by interacting with the press and using social media.
Additionally, teachers and staff in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools in the Rohini Zone are advised against participating in any form of work boycott, mass casual leave, or activities organised by these associations.
This directive follows an audit report revealing that 48.74 percent of students in MCD schools were deprived of financial benefits under various schemes from the 2016-17 to the 2022-2023 session due to the non-opening of bank accounts for fund disbursement. (With inputs from PTI)
