A man allegedly stoned his friend to death In Dwarka’s Sector 21 after the friend persisted in sending “objectionable” photos to a mutual female friend, according to police reports on Saturday.
The disfigured body of Ashish Kumar, originally from Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli, was discovered in a jungle behind Dwarka Sector 21 Metro Station on April 9, authorities stated.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said that the body was identified through technical analysis. During the investigation, focus turned to Suresh Gangwar, also from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, and a close associate of Ashish, Singh mentioned.
During questioning, Suresh revealed to police that he and Ashish had previously worked as security guards together at a company in Assam. Ashish used Suresh’s mobile phone to communicate with his girlfriend while on duty. Subsequently, they both moved to another company in Rajasthan, but Suresh left the job due to a dispute, relocating to Delhi.
“At one point, Ashish realised his girlfriend was growing closer to Suresh, which enraged him. He then sent objectionable pictures to his former girlfriend,” another police officer disclosed.
Suresh confronted Ashish about the photos, urging him to delete them, but Ashish persisted in sending them.
Suresh devised a plan to lure Ashish to Delhi under the pretext of lucrative work opportunities. On April 9, Ashish arrived in Delhi, where Suresh led him to the jungle, striking him multiple times with a heavy stone and slashing his throat with a knife.
To prevent identification, Suresh disfigured Ashish’s face and destroyed his phone before fleeing the scene, as per police statements. (With inputs from PTI)
