Motorola is set to expand its smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Moto G96 5G on 9 July. Sporting a curved back and vegan leather finish, the upcoming device is expected to take on competitors like the iQOO Z10 and Realme P3 in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment.

Display and design

The Moto G96 will feature a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The screen will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The handset also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Performance and software

Under the hood, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, the same chip found in the Motorola Edge 60 Stylus and Poco X6. The phone is expected to ship with Android 15-based Hello UI. While update details are yet to be confirmed, Motorola may offer three years of OS upgrades and four years of security patches, in line with its recent rollout strategy.

Camera and battery

The G96 will sport a 50MP Sony LYT-700C primary sensor, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. A 32MP front camera is expected for selfies and video calls. The device will pack a 5,500mAh battery with 68W fast charging. Wireless charging support remains unconfirmed, and given its expected price range, it may be omitted.

Additional features

The phone will feature a plastic frame, in-display fingerprint sensor, and Motorola’s signature minimalist design.
