Early morning incident at Ambedkar Nagar Hospital sparks panic but causes no injuries

A major mishap was narrowly avoided early Thursday morning when a section of the false ceiling in the gynaecology ward of Ambedkar Nagar Hospital, south Delhi, came crashing down.

According to police sources, the incident occurred around 4.30 am on the first floor of the ward. At the time, several patients and attendants were present, but fortunately no one was injured.

Ravi, an eyewitness, described the sudden noise and falling debris as “shocking,” saying it sent waves of panic through the ward. “People woke up in fear and rushed towards the corridor. We thought the whole ceiling might come down,” he said.

Hospital staff and security personnel quickly reached the spot to assess the damage and ensure patient safety. The affected area was cordoned off, and maintenance workers were called in to clear debris and inspect the structural integrity of the ward.

Police officials said they were awaiting a detailed report from hospital authorities on the cause of the collapse. Preliminary suspicion points to water seepage or poor maintenance.

While no casualties were reported, the incident has raised concerns about safety standards and upkeep in government-run healthcare facilities across the city.
