Delhi Police, in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and other agencies, conducted a joint search and checking operation near Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station and Maurice Nagar in north Delhi as part of an intensified campaign against drug abuse, an officer said on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday with the assistance of a canine squad.
“Teams checked kiosks, pan and bidi shops, tea stalls, public gathering points and secluded corners with the assistance of a trained sniffer dog,” a senior police officer said.

People found loitering at sensitive spots were questioned, while local shopkeepers, vendors and residents were approached for information regarding suspected narcotic activity or habitual drug users frequenting the locality, he further informed.
