Bollywood filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s fans were left disappointed after he didn’t turn up for a cultural event at the Gandhi Darshan Park, Rajghat, on Sunday evening.
The Rockstar director was scheduled to address a gathering and attend a conversation session on ‘The Evergreen Rumi’ at 7.45 pm at Dilli Durbar-2024, a cultural programme. However, he couldn’t make it.
Patriot spoke to a few fans of Imtiaz Ali at the venue who expressed disappointment over his absence.
“I have been waiting for Imtiaz Ali Sir for the last three hours. But at the last moment, we are being told that he is not coming. This is unfortunate on the part of the organisers,” said Reetika, a resident of Okhla.
“I have seen all his films starting from Jab We Met and it was my wish to see him face to face, but this dream didn’t come true,” said Arif Ahmad, a resident of GTB Nagar, Delhi.
Abrar Bhat said that he had come from Srinagar to see him.
“Imtiaz Ali Sir visits Kashmir often but you don’t get to meet him directly because he remains busy in shootings. I had come to Delhi with a hope that he would come here and I will surely try to meet him but this couldn’t happen,” he said.
The organisers of the Dill Durbar confirmed that the film director was stuck at the Punjab border due to the ongoing farmers’ protest. “The management tried to bring him to the event but it didn’t happen,” they said.
