Four sharpshooters from a gang active in the trans-Yamuna area, including one suspected of being involved in the murder of a 32-year-old man inside a ward at GTB Hospital, were arrested, Delhi police said on Tuesday.

The suspects have been identified as Rahul Singh (33), Suhail (22), Mukesh (27), and Sameer (22), according to the authorities.

Police said that Sameer was implicated in the GTB hospital murder case, as mentioned by Deputy Commissioner of Police (special cell) Pratiksha Godara.

She added that the suspects were wanted in numerous cases, including murder, robbery, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act.

On July 14, a 32-year-old man was fatally shot inside a ward at GTB Hospital, Delhi. The assailants had targeted the hospital to kill a gangster, a rival of the Hasim Baba gang, who had been previously shot on June 12 and was admitted to the same ward for treatment. Instead, they killed Riyazuddin, who was lying on the bed opposite the intended target.

“We received a tip-off that Sameer and Rahul were plotting to eliminate their rival gang members and were hiding near the Uttar Pradesh border in northeast Delhi,” said DCP Godara.

Delhi Police revealed that the two suspects frequently changed their hideouts to evade capture, but continuous tracking led to their location near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.

“A team was assembled and successfully apprehended the duo from Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh on July 19. The team also confiscated four pistols and 12 live cartridges from their possession,” the DCP said.

Following these arrests, two additional gang members were detained, the officer said.

“On July 20, Mukesh and Suhail were arrested in the Mayur Vihar area of Delhi. Two pistols and eight live cartridges were seized from them. Further investigation into the case is ongoing,” the officer added.

Meanwhile, two individuals were arrested for allegedly selling Chinese manjha in east Delhi’s Shahdara.

Police said that 25 units of Chinese manjha (glass-coated synthetic string) were seized from the suspects, who were detained in the Jwala Nagar area on Monday.

“On July 21, we received information that some individuals were attempting to sell Chinese manjha. A team was deployed, and two men—Gourav Sharma (29) and Happy Kumar (27)—were captured,” a senior police officer added.

The suspects allegedly obtained the illegal Chinese manjha from a supplier based in Jafrabad near Shahdara, the officer explained.

An FIR has been lodged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Environment Protection Act against the two suspects at the Farsh Bazar police station, police said.
