The Delhi Police Crime Branch apprehended 114 hardened criminals in 2024, including 40 parole jumpers and 40 wanted offenders, according to an official statement.
Among the arrested individuals were 18 interim bail jumpers, nine proclaimed offenders, four criminals with bounties on their heads, and three who had evaded non-bailable warrants, the officer added. The Crime Branch, a specialized unit of Delhi Police, focuses on apprehending notorious criminals and solving complex cases registered across police stations.
Describing the efforts of the unit, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastva said, “The Crime Branch had a year of relentless effort and precision, employing a multifaceted approach that combined advanced technological tools with traditional intelligence methods.” The use of technical surveillance, call detail record (CDR) and internet protocol detail record (IPDR) analysis, and informant networks enabled the teams to track and arrest offenders who had evaded capture for years.

Among those arrested, six had been absconding for over a decade, three for eight years, five for five years, and 14 for one to three years. Furthermore, 60 offenders were captured within a year of going on the run.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjay Bhatia emphasized that the operations were not limited to Delhi but spanned across India, showcasing the Crime Branch’s capability to operate at a national level.
He added that each arrest was the result of meticulous planning, involving the analysis of technical data, the deployment of informants, and extensive field operations in diverse locations.
