A tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning near Chandgi Ram Akhara in Civil Lines area where a head constable of Delhi Police allegedly shot himself dead inside a PCR van. The deceased has been identified as Imran Mohammed, who was the PCR van In-charge in Civil Lines Police Station.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi, police received information at around 6.25 am on Saturday that Imran had shot himself with his official weapon. He was immediately rushed to Bara Hindu Rao hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Kalsi further added that Imran shot himself on Bela Road near Chandgi Ram Akhara when the PCR driver and his colleague Constable Atul Bhati had gone to a toilet.
The district crime team has been called to inspect the incident, and further investigations are underway. This unfortunate incident has left the police department and the community in shock and grief.
