Rs 1.5 crore in cash robbed at gunpoint near Geeta Colony flyover in Delhi

Three armed men on a motorcycle intercepted an auto-rickshaw near Geeta Colony flyover and fled with the cash towards ITO

Delhi: A bag containing Rs 1.5 crore in cash was allegedly robbed at gunpoint from a payment collector travelling in an auto-rickshaw near the Geeta Colony flyover here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 7:30 pm on September 7 when the complainant and his colleague were travelling from Chandni Chowk to Safdarjung Enclave, they said.

According to the complaint, three unidentified men riding a motorcycle intercepted their auto-rickshaw near the Geeta Colony flyover on Outer Ring Road. One of the accused allegedly pointed a firearm at them and snatched the bag containing the cash.

The accused then fled towards ITO on their motorcycle, police said.

During the inquiry, the complainant told police that he worked as a payment collector or delivery man in Chandni Chowk and the cash belonged to his employer.

An FIR was registered at Darya Ganj police station on September 8. Several teams have been formed to identify and apprehend the accused, police said, adding that CCTV footage and manual intelligence are being analysed.

Further investigation is underway.
