In the Maujpur area of northeast Delhi, a 36-year-old man allegedly took the life of his wife, suspecting her of infidelity.
The incident was reported to the police by neighbours in Vijay Mohalla at 1:06 am on Monday. The victim, identified as Nisha, 32-years-old, suffered multiple stab wounds inflicted by her husband, Sajid, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Joy Tirkey from the northeast region.
Emergency responders rushed Nisha to GTB Hospital, where the attending doctors regrettably pronounced her deceased. Reports indicated that she had sustained severe stab injuries to her neck, chest, and left hand.
In the midst of the violent altercation between the couple, their 11-year-old eldest daughter intervened but sustained an injury to her hand in the process, as disclosed by the police.
The family consists of two daughters, both of whom were present in the home at the time of this tragic incident. Law enforcement swiftly registered a case of murder and attempted murder under Sections 302 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code at the Jafrabad police station. Sajid, the husband, was promptly taken into custody, stated the DCP.
Upon further investigation, the police learned that Sajid had previously operated a mobile repair shop but was currently unemployed. Preliminary findings indicate that his actions stemmed from suspicions regarding his wife Nisha’s fidelity. Law enforcement officers have secured the knife used in the crime as evidence.
