A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life after falling from a foot-over bridge on Wazirabad road in northeast Delhi, police said on Thursday.
The class 9 student was on his way home to Ghaziabad when the incident occurred around 1:45 pm on Wednesday. Rushed to GTB Hospital with severe injuries, he was declared dead by doctors, they said.
“He fell about six meters to the road below and sustained serious injuries,” mentioned Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey.
A classmate present during the incident informed the police that the boy was leaning against a guardrail just before the fall, the officer added.
An FIR has been registered under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code against the concerned authority. (With inputs from PTI)
