20 Delhi-bound trains delayed, minimum temperature settles at 5.3 degrees Celsius

Twenty trains heading towards Delhi on Monday experienced delays owing to weather-related conditions in the national capital.

The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius, which stands two notches below the seasonal average, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The relative humidity at 8:30 am reached 95 percent, as per the IMD.

The IMD has predicted the presence of shallow fog throughout the day, and the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 17 degrees Celsius.

Indian Railways confirmed that the delay in schedules for 20 trains bound for Delhi was due to these weather conditions.

Further, Delhi minister Atishi on Sunday announced that the schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 5 days till January 12 for students from Nursery to Class 5 due to the prevailing cold conditions.

“Schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 5 days due to the prevailing cold weather conditions, for students from Nursery to Class 5,” Atishi said in a post on X.
