With the AAP planning to protest Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, Delhi Traffic Police has announced special traffic arrangements, imposing restrictions on vehicle movement in the central part of the national capital.
According to the advisory, traffic in central Delhi will experience disruptions, with no parking allowed on Tughlaq Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg.
The AAP intends to gather at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to express dissent over Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Kejriwal has been taken into custody by the central agency in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-defunct Delhi excise policy. His custody is scheduled until March 28.
The advisory further stated that a special law and order arrangement will impact traffic in the New Delhi area.
“To ensure smooth traffic management in New Delhi, vehicles will not be permitted to halt or park on Tughlak Road, Safdarjung Road, and Kemal Ataturk Marg. General entry for the public will also be restricted, and vehicles parked on these roads will be towed away and subject to prosecution for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions,” it explained.
If necessary, traffic will be redirected from Aurobindo Chowk, Tughlaq Road, the Samrat Hotel roundabout, the Gymkhana Post Office roundabout, the Teen Murti Haifa roundabout, Niti Marg roundabout, and Kautilya Marg roundabout, the advisory added.
Commuters are advised to steer clear of Kemal Ataturk Marg, Safdarjung Road, Akbar Road, and Teen Murti Marg. (With inputs from PTI)
